Keepers of the Medicine is a contemporary piece by mohawk artist John Thomas. In the piece, Thomas places emphasis on the midwife and newborn by making use of positive and negative space. the inner-circle, outlined by the umbilical cord, is bright and very detailed while the rest of the painting is darker. Thomas also creates the illusion of movement in the comet by having a line of light trail it.
